Description
This enhanced sagittal T2 weighted MRI image of the lumbar spine demonstrates the typical appearance of a large herniation of the L4/5 intervertebral disc, (red). Lumbar vertebral bodies are blue. The lumbar intervertebral discs other than L4/5 are yellow. The sacrum is purple. This large disc hernation causes significant spinal canal stenosis with compression of the nerve roots of the cauda equina.
